Membership Information Page
BERT's memberships are open to the general public for anyone 18 years and older. Toastmaster clubs are non-profit educational organizations, not civic organizations.
-
BERT is a SAFE place to practice your speaking skills. Our nurturing environment helps you with your fear of public speaking and allows you to progress at your own pace through a program that's helped millions of people like you.
-
BERT is a PRESIDENT'S DISTINGUISHED club, the highest rating given to a club. This means we meet or exceed 9 of the 10 club goals set by Toastmasters International, including membership growth, officer training, and individual members' achievements. BERT's primary focus is communication and leadership training.
-
Unlike civic clubs, there are no requirements for members to attend a minimum number of meetings. However, members create more opportunities for personal growth when they attend and participate regularly.
We serve the community in offering communication and leadership seminars to local schools (Youth Leaderships) and invite the general public to attend all speech contests and conferences.
-
We are diverse in membership. Our membership is a good mix of beginning Toastmasters and those who have been members for years. The experienced Toastmasters serve as mentors to the inexperienced.
Most BERT members live in Davidson, Williamson and surrounding counties.
-
BERT is a very supportive and social group. While we do not have meals at our regular meetings, some members regularly go to the Puffy Muffin in Brentwood for breakfast once our meeting is adjourned. We have special award parties and holiday parties during the year.
